Job summary

The State of Indiana, via INDOT Veedersburg Unit, is seeking a Highway Technician to perform general highway maintenance, operate snow removal equipment, and install traffic signs and markings. A CDL is required, with CDL training offered onsite, and compensation starts around $20/hour with CDL earning an additional $1/hour in applicable cases.

Applicants must pass a drug test, be able to lift 50 pounds, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.
• Ability to operate basic highway maintenance/traffic equipment and tools.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate snow plows and perform winter maintenance duties as required.
• Repair and install traffic signs and pavement markings to ensure safety and compliance.
• Conduct regular inspections and basic maintenance of equipment and tools.
• Support emergency response activities such as traffic control and scene safety.
• Maintain inventory and assist with routine stocking and replenishment.
