Job summary

The State of Indiana is hiring a Highway Technician in the Crawfordsville District. You will perform general maintenance on Indiana highways, assist with snow operations, and support traffic control during emergencies. This entry-level role offers overtime during winter and CDL training as needed.

Position starts at $20/hr and CDL endorsements may add $1/hr. Benefits include health, retirement plans, paid leave, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• CDL license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Drug test required as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of inventory control systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways and rights-of-way and perform winter operations.
• Assist with traffic control during emergencies and closures.
• Inspect and perform routine equipment maintenance and fuel checks.
• Move and load supplies, monitor safety policies, and report issues.
• Possible supervisory duties depending on assignment.
