Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled worker to perform manual labor tasks related to drainage, paving, and shoulder repairs. Responsibilities include operating dump trucks hauling asphalt, sand, limestone, and maintenance materials along right of way, and flagging traffic to protect workers and the traveling public.

You will also operate small equipment such as a self-propelled sweeper and a small roller, use a chainsaw and hand tools, and assist in snow and ice

Qualifications

• No minimum training or experience requirements for this classification.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Requires attainment of a Class A CDL within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor in drainage, paving, and shoulder repairs along right of way.
• Operate dump trucks hauling asphalt, sand, clay, limestone and maintenance materials.
• Flag traffic to protect workers and traveling public during shoulder work and surface repairs.
• Operate small equipment such as a self-propelled sweeper and a small roller, and use chainsaw/hand tools.
• Assist in snow and ice removal and hurricane lane reversal plans.
