Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation in Casper, WY seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician to perform roadway maintenance duties under limited supervision, ensuring safety and reliability of Wyoming’s transportation system.

The role involves operating heavy equipment, conducting road repairs, and supporting traffic control operations, with opportunities to obtain required certifications and CDL within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant work experience (typically in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction).
• Must have the ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Must have the ability to obtain water certifications if necessary.
• Must have the ability to obtain Defensive Driving/First Aid/CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently.
• Assists with training other technicians in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Flags traffic and sets up traffic control devices under limited supervision.
• Operates heavy equipment including trucks with auger, aerial lift, plows, and snow/ice control systems.
• Performs rehabilitation of road surfaces and traffic control devices.
