Job summary

The State of Wyoming, through WYDOT, seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician in Cheyenne to operate and maintain highway equipment, perform essential maintenance tasks, and support safety operations statewide.

Ideal candidates may have 2–4 years of highway maintenance experience or an Engineering degree, plus the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within a year. The role includes training requirements and access to comprehensive state benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have 2-4 years of relevant highway maintenance/construction experience or an Associate's Degree in Engineering with related experience.
• Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months.
• Defensive Driving, First Aid/CPR, Flagger certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently.
• Assists with training other technicians in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Flags traffic and sets up traffic control devices under limited supervision.
• Operates heavy equipment such as single and tandem axle trucks with attachments for snow/ice removal.
• Responsible for rehabilitation of roadway surfaces and maintenance of highway facilities.
