Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation in Wood County, Northwood, is seeking a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1). The role includes highway maintenance duties, CDL training if needed, and serving the public to keep Ohio roads safe.

You will perform activities such as flagging, pothole repair, guardrail work, litter removal, mowing, and snow/ice operations, with full-time hours and union OCSEA. Compensation starts at $21.48–$22.29 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
  • You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
  • You will perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
  • You will perform snow & ice operations.
