Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation is hiring a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Delaware, OH. The role supports safety on Ohio roads and offers full-time hours with 7:00am–3:30pm shifts.

The selected candidate will train for CDL, perform maintenance duties including flagging, patching, and snow operations, and join OCSEA. Eligibility includes Class B CDL with tanker endorsement and related duties.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic incl. addition/subtraction; reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repairs, litter pickup, mowing.
• Conduct snow and ice operations.
