Job summary

Marathon County Highway Department is seeking a dedicated worker for road construction and maintenance across county locations. The role involves operating trucks and winter maintenance equipment, with responsibilities in project support and safety adherence.

The position requires a valid Wisconsin Class A CDL (tanker endorsement preferred or to be obtained within six months) and the ability to respond to snow emergencies. Starting wage is $24.13 per hour plus Marathon County benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent; plus at least 1 year of paid work experience constructing or maintaining roads or bridges.
• Possession of a valid Wisconsin Class A CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within six months; no air brake restrictions.
• Must be able to respond promptly for snow emergencies and other critical needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor road construction and maintenance tasks.
• Operate trucks and road construction equipment for asphalt patching, snow plowing, and material transport.
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment and keep records of work activities.
• Assist with winter road maintenance including plowing, sanding and salting of roads.
• Maintain regular attendance and contribute to a positive work culture.
