Job summary

The State of Ohio is seeking a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) for District 06 in Franklin County, Columbus. The role involves hands-on highway maintenance tasks, CDL training if needed, and snow/ice operations to keep Ohio roads safe.

Compensation ranges from $21.48–$22.29 per hour depending on the specific position. Full-time schedule is 7:00am-3:30pm, with OCSEA union benefits, paid time off, holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package upon

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic and reading/writing English vocabulary.
• CDL license required with tanker endorsement and no airbrake restriction.
• CDL/HT1 requirements include reading, writing, basic math and 3 months of equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and help make Ohio roads safer.
• Attend CDL training if not licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repairs, litter pickup, mowing.
• Conduct snow and ice operations.
