Job summary

The State of Ohio is hiring for Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Muskingum County. The role focuses on highway maintenance to enhance road safety and may require CDL training if not already held.

Responsibilities include flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing, and snow/ice operations. Eligibility includes formal arithmetic understanding and a path to obtaining a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.

Qualifications

• Formal arithmetic education including addition/subtraction and basic English vocabulary.
• HT1 requires 3 months training or experience with basic equipment.
• HDL/B CDL with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction required for HT1/HMW1.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and maintain roads to improve safety in Ohio.
• Attend training to obtain Class B CDL with tanker endorsement (if not already licensed).
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repairs, litter pickup, mowing.
• Participate in snow and ice operations.
