Job summary

The Ohio Department of Transportation is seeking a permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 or Highway Technician 1 for Wayne County, OH. The role focuses on maintaining roads, performing flagging duties, potholed patching, litter pickup, and snow/ice operations while supporting CDL training as needed.

Compensation is set per HMW1 or HT1 scales, with full-time hours and union affiliation. This position requires a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement and offers extensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic and English vocabulary; must obtain Class B CDL with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
• Formal education includes basic arithmetic and reading/writing; 3 months training or experience with basic equipment; valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance activities: flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• Perform snow and ice operations as part of winter maintenance.
• Maintain public roads and assist in emergency repairs as needed.
