The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) LaPorte Unit seeks a Highway Maintenance Laborer to perform general maintenance on highways, assist with traffic control, and support winter operations. The role is entry-level with opportunities for advancement and requires a valid CDL (or obtain within 90 days).

CDL holders may earn an additional $1 per hour. Normal schedule is Monday through Friday with mandatory overtime for emergencies.

Competenze

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.
• Must be able to endure exposure to inclement weather.

Mansioni

• Perform general maintenance on Indiana highways and interstates, including litter pickup, pothole filling, drainage maintenance, snow plowing, and traffic control during emergencies.
• Operate highway maintenance equipment and vehicles, assist with equipment and material handling, and conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Assist with winter operations and emergency response activities such as lane closures, signage placement, and barricade erection.
• Work a standard Monday–Friday schedule with mandatory overtime for emergencies.
• Potentially supervise others in a district role depending on agency needs.
