Job summary

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Plymouth Unit is seeking an entry-level Highway Maintenance Laborer to perform general highway maintenance, trash pickup, pothole filling, drainage work, and winter operations on Indiana highways. You may be scheduled Monday–Friday with mandatory overtime for emergencies.

CDL required within 90 days, with CDL bonus possible for districts. CDL training is provided onsite; CDL holders may earn an extra $1 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical activities for long periods.
• Able to work in inclement weather and operate traffic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations and snow/ice removal.
• Conduct emergency response activities including traffic control and lane closures.
• Inspect and perform basic equipment maintenance and refueling.
