Job summary

The State of Indiana, through INDOT Cambridge City Unit, offers an entry level Highway Technician role with overtime for emergency operations. You will support highway maintenance, snow removal, and traffic control while contributing to safety and road reliability across Indiana highways.

Starting hourly at $20.00, CDL benefits may add $1 per hour. CDL training is provided on site, with comprehensive state benefits for full‑time employees.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one with the first 90 days of employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to operate basic highway maintenance/traffic equipment and perform winter operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways and rights‑of‑way by performing general maintenance and cleaning duties.
• Assist with traffic control during emergencies and road closures.
• Perform snow and ice removal and routine equipment maintenance.
• Complete inspections and basic repairs and document activities as required.
• Support Traffic Inventory Specialist duties as assigned.
