Job summary

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Scottsburg Unit is seeking a Highway Technician to perform general highway maintenance and safety tasks. You will operate standard equipment, assist with traffic control, and respond to emergencies and winter operations.

This entry-level role includes overtime opportunities, a CDL pathway, and a robust Indiana benefits package. CDL holders earn an extra $1 per hour; no degree is required, and training is provided onsite.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL or obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for long periods.
• Operate basic highway maintenance/traffic equipment and perform winter operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment to keep highways safe and clean.
• Perform snow and ice removal and assist with traffic control during emergencies.
• Move and load supplies, inspect equipment, and conduct routine maintenance.
• Maintain inventory and support traffic signs, signals, and markings.
• Be available for mandatory overtime for emergency operations, including winter.
