Job summary

State of Indiana seeks a Highway Technician for the Penntown Unit to maintain Indiana highways and interstates, including winter operations and traffic control during emergencies. You will perform routine maintenance, inspections and assist with road safety.

The role is entry-level with opportunities for career advancement; a valid CDL is required or to be obtained within 90 days, with overtime as needed for emergencies and winter operations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL Class A or B or obtain within 90 days.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to perform in various weather and field conditions.
• Overtime may be required during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment to repair, clean and maintain roads.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Assist with traffic control during incidents and closures.
• Inspect and maintain drainage and roadway assets.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
