Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Highway Technician in Chesterton to perform general highway maintenance, snow and ice removal, and traffic-sign upkeep. A CDL is required, with an additional premium for CDL holders in some districts.

This role involves operating maintenance equipment, loading materials, and responding to emergencies. You will work with INDOT teams to keep roadways safe and accessible across Indiana's Chesterton area.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B is required or must be obtained within 90 days.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfort with performing physically demanding outdoor work in various weather.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment.
• Snow and ice removal and related duties.
• Repair and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
• Carry out inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
• Perform emergency response tasks as needed.
