Job summary

State of Indiana, through INDOT, is seeking a Highway Technician to work on Indiana highways from Greenfield. You will perform general maintenance, assist with traffic control, and support winter operations. This is an entry-level position with mandatory overtime for emergencies.

Location is INDOT's Greenfield Unit. Start pay is $20.00/hour, with an additional $1.00/hour if you have or obtain a CDL. CDL training is provided onsite by INDOT staff.

Qualifications

• CDL required or obtain one within first 90 days of employment.
• Must pass a drug test.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to perform physical activities for long periods and endure inclement weather.
• Ability to operate specialty traffic equipment and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to keep highways clean and safe.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations such as snow and ice removal.
• Assist with emergency response and traffic control.
• Perform regular inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
• Perform miscellaneous labor tasks as assigned.
