Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a versatile highway maintenance worker to support drainage, road and bridge upkeep across the state highway system. This on-site role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in a dynamic field setting.

You will operate medium-duty equipment, assist with catch basins and drainage structures, coordinate traffic control in work zones, and participate in emergency and weather-related operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Requires attainment of a Class A CDL within six months.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair catch basins and drainage structures and lay drainage pipes.
• Operate medium-duty equipment such as tandem dump truck, skid steer, and large roller.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices to set up work zones; assist in emergencies.
