Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Crew Leader to supervise maintenance crews on roadway projects, directing installation, repair, and debris removal tasks. You will train crew members in safety practices and flagging operations, and operate heavy equipment on the Hot Crew as needed.

You will also enter daily work into HMMS, assist with reports, and support on-call emergency operations, including inclement weather responses.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or an approved equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL within six months of placement.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather.
• Ability to direct crew and maintain safety on active road projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew in roadway maintenance, directing phases of install, repair, relocation, and debris removal.
• Instruct daily safety practices, flagging, and use of PPE.
• Operate heavy equipment on the Hot Crew and assist with traffic control operations.
• Enter daily work into HMMS and assist with reports and training of subordinates.
• Assist Crew Foreman and support on-call emergency and weather-related operations.
