Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Crew Leader to perform maintenance tasks and supervise daily, weekly, and monthly record-keeping. The role involves operating mowing equipment on highways and hauling with trucks and loaders, contributing to sidewalk and curb work, and handling winter plowing duties.

The position requires two years of related experience or an equivalent qualification, plus a valid driver’s license and a Class A CDL to be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or an approved equivalence.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance tasks and assist with daily, weekly, and monthly record-keeping.
• Operate 10 ft and 15 ft bat wing mower on shoulders, slopes, and back lines of highways.
• Operate dump truck and front-end loader for hauling/loading dirt, stone, asphalt.
• Assist in construction and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, gutters and islands; set forms, grade, pour, finish concrete.
• Assist in cleaning right of way; remove fallen trees using hand tools.
• Operate spreader and snow plow during winter conditions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
