Job summary

345 Department of Transportation in Purcell is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator I/II to maintain highways and operate equipment such as graders, dozers, loaders, and trucks. This full-time role requires knowledge of safe operation, traffic control, and routine maintenance of heavy machinery.

Level II requires one year of experience operating heavy equipment; Level I is entry-level. A CDL may be required; willingness to travel and work varying shifts is essential.

Qualifications

• Level II requires one year of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Level I requires no prior experience.
• Valid Oklahoma driver\'s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment such as trucks, tractors, road graders, dozers, front-end loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semitrailers, snow removal equipment and other equipment as needed.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repairs failures in the roadway shoulders or bridge decks.
• Repairs and/or replaces signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
• Provides traffic control assistance using a stop/slow sign or flag to direct highway traffic.
