Job summary

The Dane County Highway and Transportation Department is recruiting for full-time Skilled Laborer - Highway positions. You will operate heavy equipment (grader, loader, backhoe, road roller, snow plow) to build and repair streets, roads, bridges and drainage systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of road repair/maintenance experience or 2 years in a construction or maintenance-related field.
• Must possess a valid Class B CDL; Class A with air brake and tanker endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy motorized equipment including graders, loaders, backhoes and rollers.
• Performs excavation, digs ditches, cuts road grades, rolls asphalt for street and road construction or repair.
• Performs or assists with maintenance, minor repairs, and repairs of pavement, guard rails, bridges and drainage structures.
