Job summary

Walworth County's Highway Operations division seeks a full-time Equipment Operator to maintain safe travel on county roads and manage county facilities and grounds. The role requires operating trucks and heavy machinery, winter snow removal, and performing seasonal road maintenance tasks.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and 2–3 years of related experience, CDL preferred, and the ability to work long hours including holidays. Training and safety requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2–3 years of relevant prior experience.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment such as trucks, loaders, dozers and graders.
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance principles; safety first.

Responsibilities

  • Remove snow and de-ice assigned highways.
  • Maintain federal interstates, state highways and county roads.
  • Operate equipment including forklifts, wheel loaders, rollers and other equipment.
  • Patrol for down or missing signs and patch potholes as needed.
  • Seasonal works: crack fill, edging, mowing and shoulder maintenance.
  • Report new driveways or utility work on road right-of-way.
