Job summary

Ozaukee County seeks an Equipment Operator to perform skilled and semi-skilled labor and operate light to heavy equipment for road maintenance and construction on local, county, and state highways, roads, and bridges.

The role requires a high school diploma and multiple years of construction or skilled labor experience, plus CDL endorsements and MSHA certifications. Work is outdoors, often near traffic, with opportunities for growth within the county’s road crews.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience requirements include a high school diploma and several years of construction or skilled labor experience.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain light/heavy equipment for highway maintenance and construction.
• Perform asphalt paving, gravel-pit operation, and culvert replacement planning.
• Snow/ice control including plowing and brine handling.
• Perform routine maintenance and parts orders for equipment and asphalt plant operations.
• Keep work areas and shops clean and orderly.
