Job summary

Green Lake County is seeking a Highway Laborer to maintain state and county highways, ditches, and rights-of-way for safe traffic flow. The role involves seasonal and emergency operations as needed, with a focus on coordination with the Highway Department.

The position requires physical work outdoors, operation of heavy equipment, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and snow removal seasons. CDL is required or obtainable within 3 months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years in road construction/maintenance or equivalent experience.
• CDL license required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and use measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Snow and ice removal, including snow fences.
• Mowing and brush control.
• Blacktop and shoulder work including pothole repair.
• Traffic control and flagging.
• Rubber crack sealing.
• Patrolling highways and debris cleanup.
• Drainage maintenance including culverts.
• Bridge repairs and inspections.
• Operate heavy equipment and perform building/grounds maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.
