Job summary

Wisconsin Counties Association is hiring a Highway Operator I to perform manual labor and operate trucks and other equipment as required by the Highway Department’s operations, ensuring roadways remain safe and debris-free within the county. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; a Wisconsin CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement is required (Class B may be considered but must upgrade).

Prior municipal, construction, or snow removal experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Related municipal, construction, or snow removal experience preferred.
• Current valid Wisconsin CDL/Class A with Tanker Endorsement; Class B considered with upgrade requirement.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks and equipment according to department operations and safety procedures.
• Perform manual labor as needed with minimal supervision.
• Record daily time worked and materials used per departmental process.
• May oversee a crew of unskilled or semi-skilled laborers.
