Job summary

STV seeks a Senior Drainage Engineer to lead high-impact transportation drainage projects across the West, with flexibility to base in multiple CA offices or in Portland/Bellevue. The role focuses on technical leadership, mentoring staff, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, well-documented designs for Caltrans, LA Metro, and municipal agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 13-18 years of progressive experience in drainage design, preferably for transportation projects.
• P.E. license in WA/OR/CA (preferred) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with hydrology and hydraulic analyses and major software tools.
• Experience with stormwater management design and drainage systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead drainage engineering design for transportation projects (roadway, rail, bridge, highway).
• Oversee stormwater, drainage and culvert design, BMPs, LID, and erosion/sediment control plans.
• Perform and review hydrology/hydraulic analyses to support design decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with roadway, structural, rail, and environmental teams for integrated delivery.
• Provide technical leadership, QA/QC, and client engagement in public-sector projects.
