Job summary

Finger Lakes Community College is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to maintain end-user devices and classroom technology for students, faculty and staff. You will resolve Helpdesk tickets, manage device lifecycles, and support instructors with instructional tech.

The role emphasizes collaboration within IT, familiarity with Apple/Windows environments, and keeping devices secure while exploring new educational technologies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in an IT-related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience supporting a technology-rich environment.
• Experience managing both Apple and Windows devices; familiarity with classroom tech.
• Knowledge of networking concepts (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-user support for desktop, laptop, and classroom tech.
• Configure desktop software setups and plan system upgrades.
• Use device management tools to install required software.
• Troubleshoot classroom tech including projectors, SmartBoards, and Hyflex systems.
• Assist with student device loaner program and inventory tracking.
• Maintain inventory in the college asset system and lifecycle plan.
• Support faculty in using instructional tech such as VR/AR and Poll Everywhere.
• Follow best practices to safeguard devices from cyber threats.
