Job summary

The University of Washington in Seattle is seeking an experienced HR Manager to partner with the Social Sciences 2 cohort and translate complex employment policies into practical guidance for department leaders and administrators.

The role combines transactional workload with trusted-advisor responsibilities, supporting faculty, student employees, and staff while aligning with the teaching, research, and service missions of a major public university. Hybrid onsite with remote options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum four years of experience in human resources.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR advisor for assigned academic units, interpreting and applying university policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment programs to support local decision‑making.
• Manage all aspects of faculty employment actions including recruitment, appointments, reappointments, leaves, and sabbaticals with timely/documented submissions.
• Oversee student employment matters, ASE contracts, and hourly hiring activities; coordinate with faculty leadership and fiscal staff for hiring and budget needs.
• Coordinate with Finance Analyst on personnel actions, assess operational impacts, and inform workforce planning and budgeting decisions.
• Other duties as assigned.
