Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking a Project Engineer II to support high voltage substation projects from 69kV to 345kV, translating design documents into field execution plans and coordinating outages with utility clients.

This role bridges engineering and construction and is ideal for an early-career professional. You will collaborate with project managers and field supervision, review drawings, develop construction sequences, and help ensure safe, compliant execution across our substations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, power systems emphasis preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in high voltage electrical engineering, substation design, or utility operations.
• Ability to read and interpret substation one-lines, three-lines, P&C schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
• Willingness to travel regionally to project sites (estimated 25–40%).
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Develop outage, sequencing, construction, and energization plans in coordination with Project Managers and field teams.
• Serve as technical point of contact with client operations for clearances and outage windows.
• Identify sequencing constraints and suggest alternatives to reduce outage duration and risk.
• Review technical scope, drawings, and submittals; support RFIs and design clarifications.
• Support development of overall construction execution plans and project schedules.
• Ensure safety and compliance with OSHA 1910.269, NESC, NFPA 70E, and NFERC reliability standards.
