Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Substation in the United States to oversee overhead substation construction, maintenance, modification and replacement.

You will coordinate with project managers and customers, drive safety, bid projects, and guide scope from development to completion. You will lead teams across a broad geography, ensuring quality, schedule adherence and cost control while interfacing with utilities and owners to meet design requirements and client

Qualifications

• 10+ years of substation construction experience.
• Extensive project management skills with a track record on complex projects.
• Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strong PC skills and software proficiency.
• Ability to oversee projects over a large geographic area.
• BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Project Managers and customers to ensure crews and contacts are aligned with budgets, forecasts and schedules.
• Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the MJE Safety Management System and promoting safe work behaviors.
• Coordinate the bidding of overhead transmission and distribution projects.
• Assist Project Managers with scope development and project approval through completion.
• Keep senior management informed on progress, opportunities and trends.
• Assess progress against goals, timelines and objectives and help correct deficiencies.
• Consult with Utilities, Clients and Owners on design requirements, bid requirements and provide construction solutions.
• Ensure design requirements are understood and monitor construction quality to meet tolerances.
• Develop and standardize systems for accounting, cost reporting, and budgeting by PMs.
• Interface with key customers to ensure clear communication of construction activities.
• Address environmental, regulatory and public relations concerns regionally.
• Delegate activities with accountability and clarity.
• Assist in hiring, orientation and career development of Project Managers.
• Develop and track key performance metrics.
• Stay current on construction management trends and inform PMs of changes.
• Monitor equipment purchases, usage, inspection, maintenance and servicing region-wide.
