Job summary
NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP seeks an Engineer - Substations to perform electrical engineering for substation construction, including planning, scope development, estimating, and equipment specification. You will work on high voltage substations and support capital projects.
The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering (BSEE), 2+ years of relevant experience, and a PE license. You will collaborate with maintenance and field operations to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.
Qualifications
- ABET (or equivalent) accredited university/college degree in engineering.
- 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience in electric substation maintenance and field engineering.
- Demonstrated substation maintenance and test experience.
Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates large-scale engineering projects, scheduling and cost tracking.
- Performs engineering analysis for equipment ratings, insulation coordination, grounding, and protection requirements.
- Provides technical support to substation maintenance technicians and field crews.
- Contributes to design standards, installation requirements, and vendor evaluations.
