Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to join our team in Raleigh, NC.

You will lead critical high voltage substation design tasks, applying NESC/NEC standards, and deliver physical layouts, grounding studies, and BOMs for utility and renewable interconnection projects. This role requires at least four years of substation design experience, proficiency with CDEGS/WinIGS, and strong NEC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of high voltage substation design experience.
• Proficiency with CDEGS, WinIGS, or similar software for grounding.
• Strong NEC and National Electrical Safety Code knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design high voltage (4kV – 230kV) and EHV substations.
• Develop general arrangements, plan/elevation, grounding, and cable plans.
• Prepare equipment specifications and bill of materials.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to meet milestones.
• Perform grounding and lightning studies, and sizing calculations.
