Job summary

ISG is seeking an experienced Senior Physical Substation Engineer to lead the design of high-voltage transmission and distribution substation physical packages in Raleigh, NC. You will develop layouts, bus work, grounding, conduit, and equipment placement while ensuring compliance with client, utility, and regulatory standards.

You will mentor junior staff, review deliverables, and serve as the primary client contact for resolving technical issues on transmission and distribution projects for

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in substation physical design on medium to large projects.
• PE license is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems.
• Experience with grounding analysis and lighting analysis software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and client interface.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review complete physical design packages for high-voltage substations, including one-line and three-line diagrams, GA drawings, bus layouts, grounding layouts, conduit and cable routing plans.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, NFPA and client standards.
• Lead design coordination meetings with clients, utilities, vendors and internal teams.
• Mentor and review junior engineers' work, providing feedback.
• Forecast design hours and manage deliverable milestones.
