Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States seeks a Field Service Engineer for GIS systems to work directly at customer substations across the country. You will support installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover, with hands-on electrical and mechanical work in active environments.

You will lead crews, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure safe, compliant service while maintaining thorough site documentation. Travel up to 80% is required; a US driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of proven field service experience in a technical setting.
• Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to read contracts, specs, and technical drawings.
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support across GIS project phases: installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, handover.
• Supervise GIS installations and commissioning at substations; coordinate with crew and subcontractors.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues; manage field activities to ensure safe operation.
• Maintain site documentation and communicate with customers and internal teams.
