Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a field-based Engineer to support customers across the United States, performing hands-on service on High Voltage GIS equipment and related substation gear. You will install, commission, test, and hand over systems at multiple active sites nationwide, contributing to safe and reliable power infrastructure.

The role requires strong technical insight, good teamwork, and the ability to manage field activities with subcontractors while maintaining rigorous safety standards.

Qualifications

• Engineering-related degree or equivalent preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team coordination and customer interaction.
• Experience in engineering/construction environments, preferably power industry, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support across all project phases including commissioning, testing, acceptance and handover.
• Supervise GIS substation installation and commissioning at customer sites.
• Coordinate with field personnel and subcontractors to troubleshoot issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies at all sites.
• Maintain detailed site documentation and performance data for projects.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers for smooth site operations.
• Ensure adherence to applicable regulations and company guidelines at every site.
