Benihana - Cupertino is seeking a dedicated hibachi chef to bring entertaining, high-quality dining experiences to guests. You will work in front of the restaurant, cook on hibachi tables, and ensure portions meet standards while keeping a clean, energized kitchen.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must complete Benihana chef training program.
• Previous experience as chef or cook is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order(s).
• Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction is appropriate and courteous.
• Provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are cooked or upon inquiries.
• Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests.
• Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions.
• Prepares meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other items for cooking using various kitchen equipment.
• Performs shift opening and closing duties including cleaning refrigeration units and floors.
• Maintains kitchen areas and equipment clean and organized; reports issues to chief chef or manager.
• Follows company standards on portions, recipes, and presentation; adheres to FIFO.
• Prepares foods per portion standards and recipe specifications.
• Adheres to guidelines on food presentation and garnishes; stores and labels foods per safety rules.
• Uses knives and tools to portion, cut, and prepare food for dining room.
• Follows guidelines on alcoholic beverage service.
• Maintains a clean appearance and courteous manners with guests.
• Notifies MOD if guests are unsatisfied or if an accident occurs.
• May photograph guests during celebrations; participates in staff events.
• Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
