Job summary

The role emphasizes patient-centered care across UMH/Jackson Memorial and satellite facilities, teaching residents and fellows, and participation in clinical/translational research, with a focus on maintaining accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Strong general knowledge in Hematopathology.
• Ability to enhance communication and relations in a diverse workforce.
• Experience with quality improvement to enhance work processes in a team setting.
• Knowledge of JCAHO, CAP and CLIA regulations.
• Ability to work independently and make reliable diagnostic recommendations.
• Knowledge of hospital procedures for hazardous material, biohazard exposure and universal precautions.
• Proficient in diagnostic and laboratory management for hematopoietic diseases.
• Committed to teaching residents, fellows and students and active in research.

Responsibilities

• Patient care services at UMH, JMH and satellites; focus on assigned specialties.
• Microscopic examinations of hematologic specimens and timely coding in the system.
• 24 hours call coverage as assigned.
• Productivity per departmental compensation plan.
• Education of pathology residents and fellows.
• Education of medical students.
• Collaborative research and seeking grant funding.
• Participate in daily quality assurance and pathology committees.
• Maintain accreditation standards (JCAHO/CAP/CLIA).
