Job summary

Phoenix Children’s is seeking a Medical Assistant Specialty Care Coordinator to support the Hematology Oncology team in Mesa. The role focuses on back-office functions and care coordination, ensuring patients are prepared for specialty care and that needed services are scheduled efficiently.

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with providers, clinical teams, patients, and external partners in a fast-paced pediatric oncology setting.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association is required.
• CMA through AAMA or RMA through AMT is preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
• MA certification may be accepted in lieu of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and process prior authorizations for medications, treatments, and services.
• Process medication authorizations for home health and infusion services.
• Coordinate specialty laboratory authorizations and assist with approvals.
• Prepare and submit requisitions for specialty lab testing.
• Perform chart preparation for upcoming visits.
• Assist with coordinating patient appointments and follow-up needs.
• Respond to triage questions with administrative support and route clinical concerns.
• Support back-office workflows to promote efficient patient care.
• Communicate with providers, labs, pharmacies, and external partners.
