Job summary

The WVU Medicine Boone Memorial Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) in Medical Oncology to join the hematology/oncology team. The APP provides high-quality, patient-centered care in infusion and ambulatory settings.

Working with physicians, nurses and staff, the APP performs comprehensive assessments, coordinates care, orders tests, assists with procedures, and leads discharge planning while educating patients, families and trainees in alignment with clinical guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as RN and APRN in West Virginia.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification with Advanced Life Support training as required.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized care for hematology/oncology patients.
• Completes rounds and pre-treatment evaluations in infusion center and clinics.
• Orders tests and referrals following clinical guidelines and SOPs.
• Documents plan of care and communicates results to care team.
• Facilitates discharge planning and follow-up, coordinating services as needed.
