Placements24 is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Transport Driver to operate from Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on safely moving heavy machinery between sites with low-bed trailers and strict safety standards.

The ideal candidate has a Code 14/EC license with PrDP, a strong track record of transporting heavy equipment, and solid route planning skills for oversized loads. A thorough pre-trip inspection routine and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years in transporting heavy equipment, including low-bed trailers.
• Proficient load securing of heavy machinery per regulations.
• Experience with route planning for oversized/overweight loads.
• Ability to pass background checks and medical evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Transport heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers) using specialized trucks and trailers.
• Safely load and secure heavy machinery onto low-bed trailers, adhering to weight and dimension regulations.
• Plan and execute routes, considering road conditions, bridge heights, and permits for oversized loads.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of truck, trailer, and securing equipment.
• Operate vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate transport logs, fuel records, and equipment condition reports.
• Communicate effectively with site managers, dispatch, and maintenance teams.
• Respond professionally to any issues or emergencies encountered during transport.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of transport vehicles.
