Job summary

Palmer Johnson is seeking a Service Technician for its Sumner Service Center to diagnose, repair, and restore heavy-duty equipment. You will work on Twin Disc gear, off-highway drivetrains, and related components, performing in-house and field service.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience with heavy equipment, a diesel/automotive technical degree is preferred, and strong troubleshooter with the ability to read manuals and drawings.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience working with heavy equipment.
• Technical degree in diesel or automotive preferred but not required.
• Strong troubleshooting, failure analysis, and hydraulic principles.
• Ability to read assembly manuals, drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect, tear down, and assemble gear, axle, transmissions and torque converters.
• Collaborate with customers and vendors to provide top-tier solutions.
• Perform both in-house and field repairs.

What you'll do

As a Service Technician, you'll be the heart of our mission- helping customers diagnose, repair, and restore heavy-duty equipment. Your work will include:

• Diagnosing, inspecting, tear down, and assembly of Twin Disc marine reduction gear, off-highway axle &drives, industrial off-road power shift transmissions, industrial power takeoffs, and torque converters
• Collaborating with customers and vendors to provide top-tier solution
• Performing both in-house and field repairs

• Do you have 5-7 years of experience working with heavy equipment?
• Do you have a technical degree in diesel or automotive (preferred but not required)?
• Are you skilled in troubleshooting, failure analysis, and basic hydraulic principles?
• Are you able to work independently with minimal or no guidance, while also collaborating in a team environment?
• Are you able to read assembly manuals, drawings, and schematics?
• Do you have a valid driver's license?
• Are you in good physical condition (the ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for 8 consecutive hours)?
• Do you have the ability to communicate well with customers and have a strong sense of urgency?
