Job summary

Palmer Johnson is hiring a Service Technician for our Component Shop in Sun Prairie. You will diagnose, disassemble, inspect, and rebuild heavy‑duty transmissions, axles, differentials, and other drivetrain components used in construction, material handling, agriculture, and industrial equipment.

If you're an experienced diesel or heavy equipment technician who enjoys troubleshooting problems, performing repairs to OEM specifications, and delivering quality workmanship, we'd like to talk to you.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of diesel, heavy equipment, or drivetrain repair experience.
• Technical training in diesel or automotive is a plus, but not required.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
• Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and assembly drawings.
• Valid driver's license.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet throughout the day.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, disassemble, inspect, and rebuild heavy-duty components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues.
• Complete repairs to OEM specifications.
• Document findings and repair recommendations.
• Work with teammates, customers, and manufacturers to solve technical issues.
