Job summary

Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. is offering a Heavy Equipment Service Technician Intern position to work with experienced technicians and gain hands-on diagnostic and repair experience on heavy equipment. The internship ranges from 12 to 24 months depending on partnering schools.

Pay starts at $17 per hour in the shop, with multiple school options in OK and TX and opportunities for tuition reimbursement and career development after graduation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or currently enrolled
• Strong interest in repairing heavy equipment
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Valid driver's license preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced technicians with diagnostics in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, repairs, and maintenance of heavy equipment
• Learn to interpret technical documents, such as schematics, service manuals, and inspection reports
• Observe experienced technicians to learn ordering parts, completing service documents, and repair processes
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently while showing willingness to learn
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including shop tools and equipment
• Attend training sessions, toolbox talks, and team meetings
