Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate equipment at a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station.

You will perform inspections, monitor waste and equipment, and carry out routine maintenance while ensuring a clean, safe work environment and regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and efficient waste handling, with responsibilities including reporting repairs and maintaining grounds at shift end.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment to ensure safety and proper operation.
• Safely operate heavy equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader.
• Monitor waste and equipment condition to minimize downtime and ensure readiness.
• Perform minor maintenance and document Equipment Condition Reports; escalate major repairs.
• Follow all safety policies and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
