Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate light and heavy equipment at a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill. You will assist in unloading trucks, stabilize and handle waste, and support treatment processes.

The role requires knowledge of equipment operation, basic vehicle maintenance, and attention to detail. A valid driver's license may be required for some positions; HAZWOPER certification is needed for related lines of business.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including: check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Processes treatment of materials and containers.
• Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
• Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
