Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced equipment operator to operate power construction equipment and help excavate, move and grade materials on road projects. You will work on rights-of-way and support maintenance, with emphasis on safety and adherence to project rules.

The role requires the ability to read and follow instructions, use hand and power tools, and train others in safe operation. Candidates should have prior field experience and OSHA 10 certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with years of field experience.
• Able to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment while performing maintenance on roads and rights-of-way, loading, hauling and dumping on varying surfaces.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
• May train employees in safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify causes of errors or defects.
