Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate a range of equipment and perform earth-moving tasks at our Ohio West Area Campus. You will conduct inspections, perform routine maintenance, and help with site development projects while maintaining safety and quality standards.

This role requires 3+ years of heavy equipment experience, ability to pass tests for each machine, and readiness to complete hazardous waste training within six months.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient on heavy equipment and able to operate multiple machines safely.
• Must successfully complete training to operate additional landfill equipment as needed.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to identify and perform daily operational requirements.
• Must communicate effectively and professionally with others.
• Ability to maneuver equipment through tight driving areas with other traffic.
• Must read and speak English well to understand directions and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Perform efficient safe operation of heavy equipment (bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, etc.).
• Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete required documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning).
• Operate equipment for site prep, earth moving, landscaping, snow removal, and related tasks.
• Monitor equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safety around others.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Perform on-site roll-off work to switch trash compactors as needed.
• Move and stage trailers with yard tractors on-site.
