Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC in Michigan is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to service, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and tools on a full-time, non-exempt basis. You will perform repairs, adjust engines and transmissions, test systems, and ensure safe operation while following safety protocols.

A valid driver’s license is required; CDL-B with air brake endorsement is preferred. ASE/Fleet/Welding certifications are encouraged, and pre-employment screenings may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing hydraulic systems on fleet vehicles is preferred.
• Able to operate the type of machinery being worked on.
• Driver's license is required; CDL Class B with air brake endorsement preferred.
• A.S.E., fleet repairs/maintenance, welding, and aerial device certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles all necessary repairs including replacement of worn or damaged parts.
• Provides regular servicing using jacks, cranes, and handheld tools to dismantle/reassemble heavy equipment.
• Makes adjustments to engines and assemblies such as gear transmissions and hydraulic systems.
• Examines critical parts for wear or damage with specialized tools and trained eyes/ears.
• Tests equipment and machines on a regular schedule for safe operation.
• Cleans components using approved solvents for heavy equipment.
• Performs welding as needed with gas or electric welder.
